On 9th April 2020, around 6-7p.m., 500 Million LinkedIn Account got hacked. LinkedIn was not alone. Also, Clubhouse got hacked as well. As you know, Clubhouse is a very new app. LinkedIn rejected that they were hacked, and Microsoft announced that “This was not a LinkedIn data breach, and no private member account data from LinkedIn was included in what we’ve been able to review.” Even though the person who was selling these data was selling 2 million LinkedIn profile data as low as $2, this person announced that he would sell 827 million data for $7000 to those who are willing to pay for it. So if Microsoft says they are not got hacked, what happened? These hackers indexed all the visible data on LinkedIn into an excel sheet. If we think 60% of LinkedIn users signed up LinkedIn with their business account, we can think how many phishing emails they can get. I would recommend that please do not sign up with your business email, and do not share your phone number on LinkedIn. If someone wants to reach you out, they can use LinkedIn message or your email address. If your phone number is visible, please remove your phone number on LinkedIn. Why is this so important? People usually share their all backgrounds on Linkedin without hesitation. One day, you can get a fake call from Microsoft. These fake calls make you believe that they call you from Microsoft. The first one minute is super essential for them. They can also say that they are calling from the IT desk of your company. They can also easily verifiable all your information since you all share it on LinkedIn 🙂 if you have any questions regarding your LinkedIn. You can also check your email or phone number is stolen on https://haveibeenpwned.com/. See you in my following writing.
